A Graced Milestone: Welcoming Father General to Thailand

This month marks a truly grace-filled and historic moment for our community. For the very first time during his generalate, Father General Arturo Sosa, SJ, walked among us in Thailand. His visit brought an overwhelming sense of joy, deep connection, and spiritual consolation to Jesuits, our dedicated lay collaborators, and the many friends who weave the fabric of our Ignatian spirituality.

Father Sosa’s presence was much more than a formal visit; it was a living, breathing reminder of our belonging to a universal body sent on mission. In moments of weariness or uncertainty, his warm presence offered a profound anchor of courage and gentle affirmation for our lives, our shared apostolates, and our ongoing discernment.

During his time with us, Father General gently invited us to look deeper into how we live out our vocation as companions of Jesus, anchoring our steps in three vital dimensions:

  • Consistency: Living out our faith with integrity, allowing our daily actions and inner convictions to mirror the Gospel we proclaim, and remaining faithful even in challenging, quiet, hidden ways.
  • Community: Recognizing that we never walk alone. Our communities are sacred spaces of mutual support, healing, and grace, where God’s love is made tangible through our shared life and vulnerability.
  • Collaboration: Deepening our partnership as Jesuits, lay women and men, and friends. We are reminded that the mission of Christ belongs to all of us together—combining our diverse gifts to labor in the vineyard with generous, open hearts.

"To walk in discernment is to allow the Spirit to guide our steps, trusting that wherever love and collaboration build bridges, God is already there, laboring quietly in our midst."

As Father General leaves us, he gifts our community with an enduring spark of spiritual consolation. His visit calls us to lift our heads with renewed hope, knowing that our local efforts, struggles, and joys in Thailand are deeply valued and intimately connected to the wider heart of universal Society of Jesus.

May this visit continue to bear rich fruit in our hearts, inspiring us to press forward with joy, courage, and a deep, unshakable trust in the God who labors with us in all things.
