“Good teaching cannot be reduced to technique; good teaching comes from the identity and integrity of the teacher” (Parker J. Palmer, 1997 p.16)

My venture into the world of education, particularly as an English teacher, took an unexpected turn, tracing back to my high school days. Those were the times when I found myself thrust into the role of explaining materials to my classmates in front of the classroom. Despite considering myself a quick learner, this experience left me feeling inadequate and embarrassed. It planted a seed of aversion towards teaching in my mind, as I believed it wasn't my forte.

The signing of an M.O.U. (Memorandum of Understanding) between the Xavier Learning Community and Saeng Tham College.

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Thailand, in partnership with Saeng Tham College and the Jesuits in Thailand, jointly established the 'Saeng Tham College, Xavier Chiang Rai Campus.' Celebrating 50 Years of Saeng Tham: A Journey of Collaboration with the Society of Jesus in Thailand

This year signifies a remarkable milestone in Saeng Tham's history as it celebrates its 50th anniversary since its establishment. Since its inception, Saeng Tham has remained dedicated to fostering the growth of the Church in Thai society, playing a vital role in the formation of major seminarians from the country's dioceses and from other religious congregations for the ministerial priesthood. This invaluable mission has truly been a collaborative endeavor, and the Society of Jesus feels deeply grateful to have been asked to be part of this inspiring dedication. Saeng Tham’s commitment to learning and serving, focusing on educating future Church leaders within Thailand's diverse communities, is a privilege to support and aligns seamlessly with the Society’s vision.

Tomorrow... for Christ

It was a transitional period in 1970, with the cold war, the War in Vietnam, communist expansion, and the uncertain global economy. Furthermore, it was during the period following Vatican II, when the Church in Thailand widely promoted the vocation to the priesthood and religious life. The Jesuits felt the same way. Therefore, the Jesuits themselves also promoted vocation, particularly to those interested in religious life through the pages of various Catholic journals and magazines.
