At the Novitiate in 2009, I made my first vow to enter the Society of Jesus. Sixteen years later, the opportunity to become a permanent member of the Society was offered. The invitation for the final vows made me pause to reflect on the long journey that had unfolded over those years. This long journey provided many experiences and struggles that tested the promises I had made. After my contemplation, I became convinced that God is calling me to serve Him through the Society of Jesus.
I am grateful that by living poverty, chastity, and obedience, my intention to serve God becomes more assured. I am also thankful that the vows, which seem to limit, actually develop me and my ministry. I liken these vows to supporting pillars for climbing plants, allowing them to grow properly and bear fruit safely.
The Final Vow is not the end of a journey but an opportunity to fully dedicate myself to the Society of Jesus. For over a decade, the Society has nurtured and developed me like a mother. The Society accepts both weaknesses and strengths. Now, through this Final Vow, I have the space to nurture and develop the Society just as a child returns love to their mother. I am grateful for the trust bestowed upon me by the Society. May I become a son who makes the Society proud and always brings greater glory to God.
